"They didn't start the season too well, now they have made some changes in tactics and they are back playing like they know how to. They did well at Napoli, but this is not too much of our concern: we need to focus on ourselves, on our attitude. I want to see the team I saw against Chievo, without repeating the negative first half we had in Athens where we didn't do well as we were too static off the ball. We find it hard against teams that man-mark us all over the pitch" Montella began.
The former Fiorentina and Roma coach was then asked about what he thought regarding the criticism he and the team received after the midweek Europa League fixture against AEK Athens: "I think we didn't play that badly. We did well in the second half. A draw is a good result although we wanted to seal the qualification to the next round already in Athens, we are still top of the group."
In conclusionMontella reiterated that he believes that the Rossoneri can clinch the 4th spot which will see them qualify for next seasons Champions League: "We are on the right track. I see the players are eager to work to improve. We won at Chievo, lost to Juve and drawn away in Europa League, it's not that things have gotten worse in the past three matches. I am focused and ready to fight. This is the seventh match we play in the space of a few days, it's impossible to think we won't make some changes and it's essential to rotate players. I work with the full squad, not only with 11 men. With Han Li, when possible, we talk a lot. We have analysed the whole project. Until proven otherwise, yes I will still be here after the break.
