Chelsea and Man Utd regrets as Diawara shines in Man City-Napoli

Amadou Diawara is one of the hottest prospects Serie A football can offer at the moment and yesterday’s performance against Manchester City has proved once again that Napoli that signing the 20-year-old for just € 14 million in summer 2016 was an absolute bargain that many other top European clubs could and should have made.

Chelsea and Manchester United, for example, had been heavily linked with signing the Guinean midfielder in 2016, when Diawara was contracted with Bologna.

The talented midfielder played 35 games with the rossoblu before moving to Napoli on a permanent € 14 million deal.

Bologna fans, however, were not impressed by Diawara’s behaviour as the Guinean refused to train alongside the rest of his team during the pre-season training camp forcing the club to sell him in the summer.

Napoli had the better of their opponents and managed to sign Diawara who found the net of the gold for Napoli yesterday night.

Diawara, however, did not only scored from the spot but provided a solid performance in the middle of the pitch. Italian papers praise him this morning and stats of yesterday’s clash show how important Diawara was for Napoli in such an important game for Napoli.

The Serie A giants were so disappointing in the opening 25 minutes but managed to play an even game with the Premier League giants in the last hour of play. Diawara did also have a bad start to the game but brilliantly recovered in the last 75 minutes.

A brilliant performance that may make Chelsea and Man Utd regret not to have signed Diawara when they had the chance.
