Europa League recap: Arsenal, Lazio, and AC Milan victorious...Atalanta stalled by Lyon

It was yet another exciting night in Europe, and a somewhat successful time for Serie A sides in the Europa League competition. Here are some of the recaps of the night:

Arsenal 4-2 BATE

The Premier League giants managed well against the Belarusian club. Moving out to an early lead through goals by Theo Walcott and Rob Holding. BATE however refused to lie down and suffer, and they battled back into the match with Ivanic’s goal on the 28th minute, then created a scare for the Gunners when they pulled back a second in the 67th minute. In the end, Wenger’s side was too strong for BATE, with the match finishing 4-2.

Lazio 2-0 Zulte Waregem

Simone Inzaghi enjoyed his second consecutive success in the Europa League by overcoming Belgian side Zulte by two goals to zero. Newly acquired Caicedo did well to show his worth by notching the capital club’s first goal on the 18th minute, by heading home from close range. After the goal, Lazio took their foot off the accelerator and give space to Zulte to get back into the game. But it was the old bomber again for Lazio, with Immobile coming off the bench to double the Biancoceleste lead on 90 minutes, and guarantee his side all three points on the night.

Milan 3-2 Rijeka

Vincenzo Montella will surely be under pressure yet again, after Milan continued their lacklustre ways after giving up a two goal lead against Croatian club Rijeka, ultimately winning the match 3-2, in injury time. Portuguese sniper Andre Silva opened the scoring in the 14th minute, propelling himself to an impressive scoring rate in Europa League thus far. The Rossoneri added to their lead  through Musacchio on the 53rd minute. But Rijeka never gave up, with Acosty pulling one back for the visitors on the 84th minute. The visitors then won a penalty kick in the final minutes of regulation, allowing Elez to tie the score. There was a late spectacle for the San Siro fans though, as Cutrone had a magnificent touch to finish off a fine run and give Milan the win.

Atalanta 1-1 Lyon

Gasperini’s men were unable to repeat the same heroics they managed last matchday against Everton, as they only escaped their travels to France with one point after a 1-1 draw against Lyon. Bertrand Traore opened the scoring in the 45th minute, giving the home side the advantage. But it would be Papu Gomez who would steal the points away from Lyon, with a goal in the 57th minute to give the Italians the draw.
