There is a clause on Montella’s contract that allows AC Milan to rescind the manager’s deal if he fails to qualify for Europe’s elite competition. A decision over his future, however, could be taken earlier than in the summer.

The Italian tactician, in fact, has adopted the 3-5-2 system as AC Milan’s main formation but a possible managerial swap would also lead to some tactical changes and different choices in the winter transfer window.
That’s why AC Milan can’t play man new signings at the moment as they need to know if Montella will stay in charge of the club.
A new centre midfielder is the only player that AC Milan will surely sign regardless who their next manager will be. The likes of Seko Fofana, Jakub Jankto and Alfred Duncan are the names on the rossoneri agenda at the moment.
