Inter, Samuel: ‘Juve star the perfect defender’

Former Inter defender Walter Samuel has released a long and interesting interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport. The former Argentina International knows very well what it takes to win a derby of Milan having played many of them during his playing career.

“The table suggests Inter will win on Sunday but the derby is a different game. It’s not a decisive game but a fundamental one. It can have an impact for an entire month, one way or another. My favourite one is the one we won for 4-0 in 2009, we played a perfect game, it’s unforgettable, Ronaldinho used to play for AC Milan at that time.”

“Spalletti’s Inter are not lucky, results are important, that’s why AC Milan are struggling. I don’t think they should be in a hurry, it’s not easy to win with a new project.”

“Icardi must be able to deal with the pressure and Dybala must to the same. It’s not easy to be a player of Argentina these days but that’s how football is. Nobody has patience and Argentina will struggle to qualify for the World Cup. The will play against Ecuador tonight in a stadium 2850 above the sea level, not the best situation ever.”

“At the back I would only be confident if we had a player like Barzagli. He is my ideal centre-back. Always focused, always in the right position. It’s a pity he is a legend of Juventus and that he is at the end of his career.”

“The next Samuel? I really like Musacchio of AC Milan but I’d say Skriniar if I had to pick one. I knew he was a very solid defender and he is confirming his qualities at Inter.”
