Mancini: a dream to Coach Italy, I am ready

Roberto Mancini has pretty much applied to be Italy Coach, saying that he is “ready” to take the job.

Things aren’t going so well for the Azzurri, who have flattered to deceive under Giampiero Ventura and look to be playing Sweden with the 3-5-2 formation that has so many fans scratching their heads.

If Italy lose to the Scandinavians they will miss their first World Cup since 1958.

Though Mancini waxed lyrical about Ventura, he also said he “dreamed” of coaching Italy.

“Do I see myself coaching Italy in the future? Every [Italian] Coach has this dream, and for me it’d be an honour and a source of pride. I’d be ready for it.

“Ventura’s national team are under a bit of pressure, but it’s normal. Despite this, I think they’ll qualify: Sweden are a tough team, but the Azzurri have it in them to go through.

Mancini has won three Scudetti with Inter, adding a Premier League title with Manchester City. He is currently with Zenit Saint Petersburg.
