Report: Juventus rival Man Utd for Atletico Madrid star
Tuttosport are the latest to write about this, but Juventus’ interest in the 22-year-old goes back to at least the summer, when it looked like the Uruguayan’s deal wouldn’t be renewed.
Gimenez has played very little - only four Liga games this year - and looked unwilling to sign a new deal this summer, only to then put pen to paper. He now has a contract that runs until 2021, and has a release clause worth €65 million.
Manchester United are also known to be very enthusiastic about Gimenez, who took the Colchoneros by storm in 2015-2016 when he started 27 games, making it look like they wouldn’t miss Joao Miranda at all.
Then again, a summer report by l’Equipe indicated that Gimenez was already offered to the Turinese this summer, but they preferred to go with Benedikt Howedes.
