Revealed: why Bonucci didn’t join Chelsea after meeting with Conte last summer

Leonardo Bonucci is still regarded as one of the best centre-backs in the world. The Italian spent seven amazing campaigns in Turin but his bad relationship with Allegri leaded to last summer’s split with the 30-year-old who agreed to move to AC Milan for € 42 million.

Bonucci, however, is struggling to live up to expectations at the San Siro as the rossoneri are outside the Champions League placements and have racked up three defeats in the last three league games.

According to a report of Ilbianconero.com, however, Bonucci could have moved to Chelsea last summer.

The Italian met Antonio Conte in Turin, the duo had dinner together and talks about each other’s future. Conte told Bonucci to move to Chelsea and the player agreed to reunite with his former manager and mentor.

Chelsea, however, failed to make an offer for the talented centre-back who decided to join AC Milan on a permanent € 42 million deal.

Both Conte and Bonucci are now struggling far from Turin but they could have been together in Lond right now.
