Sampdoria: Everton target not leaving in January

Sampdoria are steadfast in their unwillingness to sell Lucas Torreira.

Speaking to La Repubblica, director Carlo Osti said that “no-one” will leave the Blucerchiati in January.

They are enjoying a very strong season, beating Milan and Juventus and playing very well overall, enough to earn sixth place.

Torreira has found himself being targeted by half of the Serie A and a number of strong teams in Europe, especially Everton. With Sampdoria a selling side, one would expect any of their talents to leave sooner rather than later.

Yet speaking to La Repubblica, Osti was adamant that Torreira wasn’t leaving… for now, anyway.

"Torreira has made the transition from Serie B to A with ridiculous ease,” Osti told La Repubblica.

"It was said that if he scored even just a few goals, he'd be perfect. He's already scored three and my phone rang continuously on Monday.

"Still, no-one will leave in January, even if everyone's already asking me about him."
Torreira has shined as a strong passer and tough tackler in what is now a glittering midfield.
