Spalletti pleased with deserved Inter win

Inter boss Luciano Spalletti insisted that his side secured a deserved 2-1 win over Verona on Monday night.

Goals from Borja Valero and Ivan Perisic either side of a Giampaolo Pazzini penalty sealed the three points for the Nerazzurri, as they climb up to second place in the Serie A table.

While he wasn't entirely content with the performance, Spalletti was pleased with the approach and mentality from his players in trying to impose their game on the opposition.

"The team played a great match in every respect, but every now and then we play a little slowly, we leave spaces when we don't have to. We deserved our win though."

With the victory, Inter have now collected 29 points from their opening 11 games of the season, which is their best ever return at this stage of a campaign.

However, while Spalletti was pleased with the newly-set record, he didn't want to dwell on it for too long as there are undoubtedly bigger objectives to come this season for his side.

"We've written a new line in the history of the club, but we move on. We're not talking about the Scudetto, all the teams are in there fighting for the top four. Milan will come back and Lazio have the quality to stay up there. Everything can change very quickly."
