Abidal attacks Rabiot: 'Maybe he joined Juve for the money'

As his contract expired with Paris Saint-Germain, Adrien Rabiot looked set to join Barcelona ahead of the upcoming season. Instead, the Frenchman arrived at Juventus, which left the Catalan side's fans wondering.

For months, his move to Spain seemed to be only an announcement away. Then, the Bianconeri managed to swoop in and secure the signing of the midfielder, despite offering his less salary-wise than the Spanish side.

Now, Barcelona's sporting director Eric Abidal has shared his thoughts on the matter, speaking exclusively in an interview with Le Parisien, having moved first-hand for the midfielder.

"He was on our transfer wish list, but then he ended up signing for Juventus. I don't know the exact reason behind his decision, but maybe it was a question of economics... I can't say," he concluded.

With the Bianconeri, Rabiot has signed a four-year deal, which reportedly is worth €7.5m per year, as Paratici managed to lower his initial demands of around €10m.
