AC Milan vs SPAL 2-1, the player ratings as Higuain finally got back on the scoresheet

AC Milan took on SPAL today in what was a crucial game for the rossoneri and their coach Rino Gattuso. Milan have had a lot of injuries of late but they have also been very poor over the past few weeks as Rino Gattuso's job isn't safe anymore. This was a must win game for Milan (to inch closer to Lazio) and Rino Gattuso as the rossoneri ended up winning by a 2-1 score line (thanks to goals from Castillejo and Higuain).

Milan started off the game well but SPAL took the lead early on in the game as ex-Milan youth squad player Andrea Petagna opened the score. Milan responded well as Samu Castillejo tied the game up moments later thanks to a great individual shot. After half-time, Gattuso decided to throw in Patrick Cutrone as the rossoneri needed a goal. The winning goal finally came as Gonzalo Higuain scored a crucial goal for the rossoneri and their fans. This was important for him, for the club and for Gattuso as he pulled the monkey off his back. The rossoneri held on but needed a great late Gigio Donnarumma save to hold on to all three points. You can view our player ratings bellow right here on Calciomercato.com.
