Blow for Man Utd and Inter as Spurs star signs contract renewal

Toby Alderweireld has been watched closely by both Inter Milan and Manchester United in recent months, with the talented Belgian centre-back very close to a move away from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer; Jose Mourinho wanting to sign him then whilst he was still the manager of Manchester United.

However, a fresh blow arrives for both the Red Devils and the Nerazzurri as Alderweireld has officially signing a contract extension with Spurs, extending his current deal by another year after his contract was set to expire in the summer of 2019. Alderweireld, therefore, would have been available on a free transfer and would have been a big blow for Spurs to lose without anything in return.

However, all hope has not faded just yet for the interested parties, as his contract now expires in the summer of 2020 and therefore provides the clubs with an alternate chance to pursue the Belgian centre-back.
