Exclusive: why Chelsea hope Juventus sign Man Utd target in the summer

The future of Faouzi Ghoulam is up in the air as the Algeria International has yet to sign a contract extension with Napoli and his current deal expires in 2018. The player’s agent Jorge Mendes wants Napoli to add a low release clause in the player’s new deal but Napoli want the release clause to be in the region of € 40 million.

Of course, if the player doesn’t sign a contract extension within the next two months, he could negotiate a free move to any other club at the end of the season.
According to our reporter in Turin Nicola Balice Juventus have made contact with the player’s entourage making a preliminary offer to sign the 26-year-old as a free agent at the end of the season.

Ghoulam has also been offered to several top European clubs by his agent Jorge Mendes who is on very good terms with Manchester United and their manager José Mourinho. Atletico Madrid is another club Mendes is on very good terms with but Juventus want to beat the competition offering Ghoulam a € 4-million-a-year deal plus add-ons.

The signing of Ghoulam would allow the Old Lady to sell Alex Sandro in the summer. The Brazilian star had reached an agreement with Chelsea a few month ago but the Old Lady refused to sell him.

Juventus and Alex Sandro are in talks over a new deal and even if the player signs a contract extension the Serie A giants would be open to sell him at the end of the season if they manage to sign Ghoulam as a free agent. Should Alex Sandro push for a summer exit, Chelsea would be in pole position to welcome his services. That’s why the Blues hope Juventus wrap up a deal with Ghoulam and Jorge Mendes.
