Milan, Gattuso: 'From July I was told to leave; let the table speak for itself'

AC Milan claimed a 2-0 victory over already relegated Frosinone today as the Rossoneri keep up their pursuit of a place in next season's Champions League. Milan currently sit level on points with Atalanta, with the Bergamo side currently facing off against Juventus in Turin.

Speaking to the press after the game, Milan head coach Gennaro Gattuso, who has come under a lot of fire recently, said the following:

"For 45 minutes, we are in the Champions League. It was a difficult game, we knew it. Frosinone gave us a hard time, we thank Donnarumma and now we hope for a positive result for Juventus [against Atalanta].

"Balance? I only say that there has been so much talk. From July 1st I was told that I had to leave the club. Today the ranking speaks for itself, I will be judged but this team has worked hard and it is thanks to my boys who have followed me. We did what we had to do, maybe we failed to land the winning blow. The responsibilities are there but this squad has done well. We made it to the Cup semi-final. The only flaw was being eliminated in the first round in the Europa League. I continue to do this job, I hope to stay here."
