Revealed: the real reason why Conte wanted to leave Chelsea in the summer
As.com confirms Fernando Llorente was a top summer target of Conte who had requested Chelsea to take the Spaniard to the Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea, however, made an offer that even Conte considered ‘ridiculous’.
According to the Spanish paper Chelsea did only offer € 5.5 million to sign the former Juventus star who netted 16 goals in Serie A under the Italian tactician.
Tottenham eventually signed Llorente for a fee higher than € 10 million and Conte wanted Chelsea to make an extra effort to seal the services of the 32-year-old star given that he knew Diego Costa would have left South West London.
Chelsea executives, however, failed to make an appropriate offer and Llorente did eventually join Tottenham.
