Sarri gives Arsenal and AC Milan hope in pursuit of Chelsea defender

Arsenal and AC Milan have been strongly linked with signing Chelsea defender Gary Cahill in the January transfer window.

Both clubs are in need of some defensive reinforcement this winter and the experienced Chelsea defender could be looking elsewhere to get more game time.

Speaking in a press conference ahead of the Blues’ last Europa League clash in the group stage, Maurizio Sarri said: “I really respect Cahill for what he achieved with this club but I still need to make choices. His expiring contract is not something that I have to deal with. He has to decide his future together with the club. He is aware that players over 30 are only offered annual contract extensions here”.

Cahill is not the only Chelsea player linked with a move to Serie A. Italian media claim Davide Zappacosta is wanted by both Roma and Inter, while Cesc Fabregas is another transfer target of AC Milan although his arrival at the San Siro could be complicated by economic reasons.
