Tottenham star: I need to stop scoring tap-ins

Harry Kane was typically humble at the recent FIFA awards.

Interviewed about his chances of winning the Puskas award for greatest goal, the English superstar was typically dismissive, claiming that he would need to do more than score tap-ins in order to get there.

“Hopefully, that’s the aim. I normally score tap-ins inside the box so maybe not on that list, but we’ll see what happens,” he said.

“I think it has to be the goalkeeper with the overhead kick. It was an incredible goal and the celebration matched it as well,” he added.

Kane is coming off a splendid season, in which he netted 29 Premier League goals.

The award went instead to Olivier Giroud, who netted a scorpion kick last season. He was as shocked as anyone when the ball actually made it into the goal, however: “I like acrobatic gestures but I was surprised when I saw it in the back of the net.”
