United to drop interest in Mandzukic

English Premier League outfit Manchester United have decided to cool off their interest in Italian Serie A giants Juventus veteran striker Mario Mandzukic, as per ESPN.

The Croatia international has been linked with a move away from the Turin-based club ever since the arrival of manager Maurizio Sarri and was dropped from Juve’s UEFA Champions League squad as well.

It was reported earlier that United—who are short of options on the attacking front after letting Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez join Serie A giants Inter Milan in the summer without having their replacements—were keen on signing the former Atletico Madrid striker to reinforce in the final third.

But as per the latest development, the Red Devils hierarchy have decided to drop their interest in Mandzukic.

The report stated that the primary reasons for such a drastic development is the the 33-year-old’s high wage demands along with his reluctance to commit to a short-term deal, which made United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær looking for alternatives.
